Originally from Jamaica, grew up in Brooklyn, NY, lived in New Jersey for 6 years, and now currently residing in Oakland, California. I have always had a passion for dance and other beautiful forms of active self expression. If I knew nothing else, I just knew I want a life where I can be active because that’s what makes me happy.
Right after I graduated college with my Bachelors Degree in Psychology, I moved in with my boyfriend (now husband). I wasn’t working, we lived in PA so family and friends were not close by, and I found myself alone and feeling slightly depressed. So I did what so many of us are comfortable doing, I turned to food and the couch, and got lost in TV. Now, I didn’t gain too much weight (to my surprise), but I did start to notice a change in my body that I was not comfortable with, and I’ve never really felt uncomfortable in my own skin until then. I decided to join a gym that was nearby and everything clicked from there. I was fascinated by the body and how much potential and control we have to change our bodies. I was also amazed at how much better I felt physically and emotionally. I learned to use the machines at the gym and kept it up at home with some of my own exercises at home (sometimes). Then I discovered Zumba, which combined the fitness that I fell in love with and my passion for dance, and I have not stopped evolving since.
I am an AFFA certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor, licensed Zumba Instructor, Dance Teacher, PiYo Live Instructor, and an online health and fitness guru. And I love it all.
My goal for this site is to provide a place where you can come to start feeling comfortable with the health and fitness world. Getting healthy is not as hard as it may seem, you just need to know where to begin. I won’t lie and say it’s easy, it does get tough, and you’ll want to give up and give in to cravings and laziness, but I’m here to support you, push you, and help you keep your goals in sight at all times. Always remember WHY you started, why you came here in the first place, and how you would love to look and feel each and every day, inside and out. Keep that in mind, and you’ll keep going.
I can’t wait to get started helping you get on the road to a healthy, happy, and fit life - no matter where you are in your journey. The right combination of nutrition and exercise can get you to the body and the life that you deserve. So let’s begin!
